Cafit annual meet -2009

On Friday Jan 8, 5:00 PM, at Asma towers, Cafit members gathered for their Annual Meeting.  20 member companies were present to review the past and to plan for the coming year.  It was quite evident from the words of founding members the pleasure they had in seeing  growth in the members since 4 of them met at Cosmopolitan 4 years back.

Duleep set the mood of the crowd with an introductory presentation about IT happenings at Calicut and across the borders.  He touched up on the topics like upcoming ULcyber park at Calicut, regional talent issues,  opensource,  cloud computing and many others. He also briefed about the various activities and achievements of Cafit during 2009.

Followed by a session by Bijith on the importance of cross utilization of regional experts for mentoring.  A discussion and survey about talent gaps in the city was conducted by IIMK students followed.

Before dinner the session was concluded by finalizing the sub committees and members to support existing office bearers.

CAFIT @ “Reinventing Malabar”

Marking the celebration of the 80th year of its existence, The Malabar Chamber of Commerce organized a conference on the future prospects of Malabar. The event named “Reinventing Malabar” took place during the period Jan 29 – 31, 2010 where CAFIT members had the privilege to be a part of the discussion panel.  Members spoke on “IT @ Malabar – Vision 2020” – emphasizing the development prospects of the IT sector in the Malabar region. During the event lots of ideas and suggestions which could help developing IT industry in Malabar region were discussed.

Malabar Chamber of Commerce, established in 1929 is in its 80th year of meaningful existence. The Chamber plays a very pivotal role in the development of trade and industry. Marking the celebrations of this glorious occasion, ‘Reinventing Malabar’- a conference on the future prospects of Malabar is poised to be a major event in the calendar of Malabar Chamber of Commerce. The business conclaves intended to deliberate the growth prospects of this region, across IT, HR, Health tourism and Infrastructure tourism. The event which happened during January 29 – 31, 2010 was a great success in facilitating an incubation platform through seminars and interactive panel discussions involving powerful speakers from all sectors to evolve strategies to accelerate the pace of the transition of Malabar into a global investment destination.

Nasscom Event at Calicut – “Growth Strategies for Start-ups” – 20th Feb 2010

Nasscom recently conducted its 4^th Session of its Emerge Forum in Calicut on 26^th Feb, 2010. This event saw a huge participation from the IT community from Calicut. Mr. Partha Parthasarathy, CEO of Nustreet Technologies  gave an inspiring speech by sharing the experiences of his 3 entrepreneurial venture. His talk gave lots of insight into the world of Entrepreneurship where success and failures are part and parcel of the game.  This session not only motivates the participants but also thrown light over the hidden intricacies of startups.
